Bull’s Blood Bikaver Bonanza Tour – Eger and Bükkalja
Said one of the greatest Hungarian poets, Sándor Petőfi:
“If I sense good wine, I enter;
Should I not then enter Eger?
If I should avoid this town,
Even God would beat me down.”
So, hear his plea!! Avoid the wrath of God, and visit historic Eger region and discover one of the most famous Hungarian wine, the Egri Bikaver (Bull’s Blood). Eger is famous in Europe, because the largest Turkish offence against Europe was stopped dead here by local heroes defending Eger’s majestic castle (the Turkish invaders believed that the robust red wine had given the defenders strength-giving properties). So, drink some yourself, and savour the powerful, full-bodied red wines in cellars characteristically carved into the rocks, and leave with renewed strength.
Half day Eger tours are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Full day tours to Eger are offered on Saturdays.
